Developers — overview
What you can build for BazaarSaaS stores — themes, apps and integrations — and how they reach merchants.
BazaarSaaS is a store platform for Indian merchants. Developers and agencies can build three kinds of things for it, and offer them to every BazaarSaaS store through the Marketplace:
| You build | What it is | Start here |
|---|---|---|
| A theme | How a store looks — HTML templates (Handlebars), CSS and JavaScript, customisable by the merchant without code. | Build a theme |
| An app | Your own web service that works with a store's products, orders and events through the API, after the merchant installs it. | Build an app |
| An integration for one store | Connect a store to your ERP, accounting or warehouse software with an API key. | API & webhooks |
How your work reaches merchants
- Build and test — themes with the Theme Dev Kit on a sample store; apps against a test store of your own.
- Submit — send the theme package to BazaarSaaS, or submit your app's listing from your store's admin.
- Review — the BazaarSaaS team checks it (rules, security, a test install) and approves it or tells you what to fix.
- Listed — it appears in every store's Marketplace (themes also in the theme gallery), free or paid. Paid items — one-time or monthly, with optional free trial days — are charged on the merchant's BazaarSaaS GST invoice.
Good to know
- You never need the BazaarSaaS source code — themes follow a published contract, apps use the public API.
- Everything a merchant installs shows them, in plain words, what it can access, and they can remove it any time.
- Payouts to developers for paid items aren't automated yet — talk to us before you set a price.
- Apps work from outside the store (API + webhooks). Adding blocks inside the storefront, checkout or admin from an app is planned for later.
